Domestic violence is a pattern of assaultive and coercive behaviors that adults or adolescents use against their intimate partners.

The abused woman looks just like the non-abused woman. Domestic violence crosses all racial, social, religious, cultural, and economic lines. Therefore, abuse of women spans across the full spectrum of womanhood. She can be your mother, sister, niece, or best friend. She can be a homemaker, CEO, pastor, teacher, or your manicurist.

We often use the terms “she” or “her” in reference to victims of abuse, but domestic violence is not limited to women and children alone. Men can also be victims of domestic violence perpetrated by their wives or girlfriends. We recognize that abuse must not be seen as a male or female problem, but rather a human problem.

This epidemic knows no boundaries. While the secular world can offer protection and advice, it cannot provide the one thing most needed: Jesus’s healing touch that brings renewal and hope.
Sexual Abuse
Sexual abuse is a sexual act, an attempt to obtain a sexual act, or unwanted sexual comments and advances directed against a person’s sexuality by using coercion. Perpetrators of sexual violence can be any person regardless of their relationship to the victim and can happen in any setting, including home and work.

The Church has been called to break the silence of sexual abuse, to set the captives free from the power and pain of victimization and to begin a pathway to the healing that is found only in Christ.
